The role focuses on monitoring, troubleshooting, dashboard development, and field support, with exposure to multi-protocol 5G devices and next-generation wireless systems.The primary outcome of this role is to ensure the reliability, visibility, and continuous improvement of the 5G network, while contributing to the development and testing of 5G-enabled devices and gateways.MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES5G Core Network Maintenance & Operations◦ Maintain and monitor the 5G core network based on NextEPC, including configuration updates, log analysis, issue reproduction, and system validation.Network Dashboard & Monitoring Development◦ Develop, customize, and maintain the 5G monitoring dashboard based on OpenNMS, including alarms, metrics, visualizations, and system health reporting.Troubleshooting & Vendor Collaboration◦ Work closely with engineers from NextEPC and OpenNMS to report issues, reproduce bugs, track fixes, and validate patches. Provide first-line troubleshooting and escalation support as needed.Multi-Protocol Device Development & Testing◦ Participate in the development and testing of 5G-related devices, including 5G-to-WiFi hotspots, 5G-to-LoRa gateways, and 60 GHz WiGig–to–5G bridges, supporting citywide and enterprise deployments.Field Support, Documentation & ReportingAssist with field issue triage, standby support during deployments or tests, documentation, and regular reporting to the engineering team.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSMonitor and maintain the operational health of a private 5G core networkConfigure, test, and validate network components and dashboardsTroubleshoot software and system issues across Linux-based environmentsCommunicate technical issues clearly with internal engineers and external vendorsDocument configurations, procedures, and lessons learnedSupport real-world deployments and respond to operational issues when requiredJOB REQUIREMENTSCurrently enrolled in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related fieldFamiliarity with Linux systems, networking fundamentals, and basic system administrationAbility to work at least 10 hours per week (16+ hours preferred during active development periods)Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate with external engineering teamsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience or coursework related to computer networks, embedded systems, or operating systemsFamiliarity with 5G, LTE, or telecom concepts (academic or practical)Interest in multi-protocol wireless systems (5G, WiFi, LoRa, WiGig)COMPETENCIESTechnical curiosity & learning agility: ability to quickly understand new systems and toolsProblem-solving & troubleshooting: methodical approach to diagnosing issuesCommunication & collaboration: clear interaction with engineers, vendors, and stakeholdersReliability & ownership: follows through on operational tasks and field support needsPay Range Statement:This is the pay range the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting.
